Hair Products and Tips

Let’s talk about hair! I recently changed my medications and saw major changes in  my hair- almost overnight it was thinner, drier, and a lot more damaged than it used to be. After experimenting with many different products I’m excited to share my favorites and what worked best for me!

Caveat: I have thin, fine hair that is naturally straight so this isn’t a universal solution by any means, just what helped me! I would also add that I use these products with pretty basic/inexpensive shampoo and conditioner (my favorite right now is Aussie), so they’re really just designed to give it a boost when you need it.

Pantene Rescue Shots: These are incredible. If you’re looking for one thing to completely change your hair and you don’t want to break the bank, this is it. I get a pack of three from Amazon every few months and use each one as a hair mask. It’s incredibly easy and it really does make such a big difference for your hair.

Miracle 10 Spray: I use this as a thermal protector and love that it also repairs dry and damaged hair, adds shine, and also detangles and helps to prevent split ends. It really does do everything!

Hair Brush: This is a really simple one! This brush is $11, so cute, and I love how it detangles so easily. The bristles also work like more expensive brushes that distribute hair oils so your scalp will be less oily the day after a shower. It’s perfect if you have delicate hair like mine or want to eliminate damage!

Olaplex Products: So many people talk about Olaplex as holy grail products for colored hair. While my hair isn’t colored now (and hasn’t been since a very sorry case of zebra stripe highlights a few years ago haha), my hair hasn’t been as healthy or full since the last time I got it colored and I really wanted to bring it back to its original state. Of the products I’ve tried, I’m loving Olaplex No. 6 on a regular basis and I swear by Olaplex No. 3 and the Olaplex bonding oil whenever my hair needs a little more moisture.  These products are little more expensive, but the bonding oil in particular will last me for almost a year so I feel like I can justify the investment that way. No. 3 goes faster, but No. 6 will also last a very long time, adding moisture, reducing hair drying time, and eliminating frizz.

Styling Cream: For girls with finer hair, you’ll want a lighter spray or cream to give your hair volume at the roots. My hair stylist recommends this one and I love that it’s so light and it’s not sticky or greasy. This bottle lasts forever and ever and the volume lasts all day.

Detox Shampoo: I was hesitant when I first heard about this (who needs an “extra”shampoo?), but I was impressed by the great reviews. I’m so glad I did because it’s such an amazing product!! Detox shampoos remove product buildup and promote volume. This one in particular smells INCREDIBLE and makes my hair so shiny and healthy. I recommend using it just once a week, and you’ll see a huge difference right away.
